Decisions, Decisions, Decisions…

I last left off when we were taking watch in the desert before an arrow from the heavens landed right in front of Gruntham. Luckily, it did not wake up the rest of the party but we decided to wake everyone up anyway and alert them of the situation. It turns out the arrow was from our previous mystery guest who had us light a torch one evening in the courtyard in town as a means of acknowledgment of, I don’t know what, protection of some sorts. The mystery guest revealed himself to us not long after the arrow arrived. His name is Jubei(sp?). Apparently he is from some tribe on the east side of town. Jubei is looking for his sister who, coincidentally, was kidnapped by Mykaleus. While that came as a surprise to us, nothing could have surprised more than what he revealed later. According to Jubei, the leaders of his clan intend on wiping out the town in 3 days. They have no regard to whomever is in town. If you are in town in 3 days , you will die. Now the recent revelation was obviously a secret but Jubei’s felt the need to let us in on his tribe’s plan on the basis of his ulterior motive, rescuing his sister. Some in the group pleaded to him not to kill everyone in town but he kept saying that the decision is not his. We asked him why would Mykaleus would want to kidnap his sister and he went on to say the she has special powers. Jubei explained that she has the ability to see the future. While we kept debating amongst the group what we should do, valuable time was wasting. In the end we decided to go and rescue Jubei’s sister.

Jubei informed us that he knows where his sister is being kept and that it is not far from where we were at. As we were on our trek, we came across what looked like hundreds upon hundreds of creatures that appear to be gibberlings, followed by a man riding a horse MADE OUT OF MIST!. As they were approaching we created an illusion of a sand dune and hid in it and they past by heading towards the town, presumably preparing for battle with Jubei’s clan. A part of me really wanted to confront them and take them out, but as most of the decisions that are made as a group, we decided to wait for them to pass and follow Jubei to where he says they are holding his sister. I know we are trying to save his sister but I just get a bad vibe from Jubei regarding the whole situation, as if he is hiding something from us. Regardless, we have found a good portion of our time underground battling numbers of drow, even though Jubei told us there are not many drow guarding his sister. Chalk up another individual in the group I should be weary of. I guess we will eventually get to where we need to go and have some absolution, but uncertainty has become the norm in the group, and on our quest.
