Arrogance of Tenebrous, continuous while worn:
Functions similar to a Staff of the Magi – may provide SR 23 or operate with a magical absorbing effect similar to a Staff of the Magi. Spell levels absorbed are changed into charges. If the charges exceed 50, then the wielder must save versus DC 26 Fort. A failed save destroys the wielder (as the Destruction spell) and results in a retributive strike similar to a Staff of the Magi. A successful save results in a retributive strike similar to a Staff of the Magi, but the damage from this effect cannot reduce the wielder below 0 HP. If reduced to 0 HP by the retributive strike, the wielder is disabled. Unlike a Staff of the Magi, the Visage of Orcus is not destroyed upon release of a retributive strike and must remain in the same space where the retributive strike was triggered even if this will separate the wielder and the item.
Eye of Tenebrous, 5 rds/day:
The wielder of the Visage of Tenebrous may activate and release the item as a standard action to use the item as a Sphere of Annihilation. Activation of this effect is treated as the initial attempt to control a Sphere of Annihilation. Upon activation, the item can take any unoccupied 5’ space immediately adjacent to the wielder. If no unoccupied space is available, then a randomly determined adjacent space is chosen and subjected to the effects of a Sphere of Annihilation. While this effect is active, the Visage of Tenebrous functions identically to a Sphere of Annihilation (DMG p.280). At the end of the duration, the item automatically returns to the hand of the wielder. When activating this effect, the wielder is treated as having the benefit of a Talisman of the Sphere for the duration of the effect.
Sight of Orcus, continuous while worn:
While wearing the Visage of Orcus, the wielder may see normally through all types of darkness (magical or mundane) up to 120’.
